These are the highlights from the Summer Camp Parents Meeting:

Camp Rodney basic camp information

Camp Packing List

Forms Needed:

Health Forms

  • We need the Health Forms ASAP
  • Parts A, B, and C of the Health and Medical Record, are required for summer camp. Part B requires a doctor's signature. The physical exam date must be after July 31, 2009. If any medications are being taken, Part A also requires a doctor's signature for each medication being taken.
  • Please transfer the date of the vaccinations to the form rather than turning in the extra pages from the doctors office. Be sure to keep a copy of the Health and Medical Record before you turn it in. Do not email completed the Health and Medical Record (it is against BSA guidelines to email the completed record). See information below if you need a physical.

Permission Slips:

Turn in your completed permission slips ASAP

Merit Badges:

  • Look at the list of merit badges being offered at camp. Help your son choose the merit badges he will work on at camp. Refer to the Program Schedule to determine what times each badge is offered. The Planning Sheet may be helpful when doing this.

No scout under 15 should take more than 2 Eagle required merit badges while at camp.

Anyone 15 or older wanting to do more than 2 at Summer camp needs to speak to Mr. Brennan unless the 3rd is a partial.

Look at the two links to the merit badge requirements on our links page. Ask your son and yourself - Is this going to be fun?

Please email Mr. Thomas your son's merit badge selections. Your son will fill the blue cards out he needs on Sunday after we arrive at camp.

  • New Scouts have nothing to worry about! The New Scouts Program will include all they need. Fun is number 1!

  • Travel and Notes to Parents

We travel to and from camp in class A. If you want to wear your swim suit under your uniform that will save time at camp.

Homesickness

  • Mr. Brennan is asking all Parents not to participate in the family dinner at Summer camp because of home sickness, for which there is no known cure.
  • Mom and Dad remember how much you can get done at home this week of Summer camp, painting, yard work, and so on. This is the week to make sure the calendar is full of these sorts of tasks.

  • Mail: If you are sending mail it needs to be sent early in the week so it will arrive. Please make sure not to mention any plans like beach trips or movies because of the dreaded home sickness.

  • Troop emails will be circulating soon with all contact information.
